Nathan Magrath, Manager of Communications and Outreach, Alliance to End Hunger
The Alliance to End Hunger is happy to announce the addition of Minerva Delgado, a recognized expert in the fields of hunger and social justice issues, as the Director of Coalitions and Advocacy. Ms. Delgado is the first individual to hold the position at the Alliance, and represents further expansion of the Alliance into advocacy through national partnerships.
Prior to the Alliance, Ms. Delgado served as Executive Director of Manna Food Center, the food bank of Montgomery County, MD; and has
held senior positions at the Food Bank for New York City, Children’s Defense Fund, and LatinoJustice. As Director of Coalitions and Advocacy, Ms. Delgado will work to bolster the Hunger Free Communities initiative—the Alliance’s domestic program aimed at mobilizing communities around hunger-free plans and advocacy. She will also work to enhance the Alliance’s overall advocacy strategy to meet the evolving aspirations of the Alliance’s advocacy committee, board, and wider membership.
“We are thrilled to have Minerva join our team,” stated Ambassador Tony Hall, Executive Director Emeritus of the Alliance to End Hunger. “Her wealth of experience addressing the issues of hunger and poverty will be a tremendous asset to our mission and goals.”
Ms. Delgado has appeared in print media, radio and television news, and is a recognized subject matter expert on hunger and poverty. She has contributed to news stories, presented at national anti-hunger conferences such as the Alliance’s Hunger Free Communities Summit, and participated in initiatives to end hunger and create innovative program models (earning her work a Feeding America Innovation Award in 2013). She was also invited to advise the United Nations Independent Expert on Human Rights and Extreme Poverty, Dr. Arjun Sengupta, during his fact-finding mission to the United States.
“I am looking forward being of service to the Alliance and its members,” stated Delgado. “Hunger is not inevitable and I am excited to work with our partners to transform the way we respond to hunger in America.”
Ms. Delgado began working at the Alliance on April 6. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 202-688-1139.
