Global food security programming delivers essential – and in many cases life-saving – interventions to at-risk households and communities around the world. But the impacts of these programs can benefit people well beyond targeted communities or countries. How can a food security intervention in a rural area of a country ultimately benefit both economic and national security not only in the beneficiary country, but internationally as well? Join the Alliance to End Hunger, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and a panel of economic, national security, and food security experts to discuss how food security programming provides benefits beyond targeted countries to help promote a safe, prosperous, and more stable world.

Set for Monday, November 6, through Tuesday, November 7, the 2017 National Sunshine Summit to End Hunger is the product of a partnership between the area’s Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger and the Alliance to End Hunger. TBNEH has merged its annual conference with the Alliance’s annual Hunger Free Communities Summit to create a single, high-impact event that focuses attention and expertise on a national problem that is the lived experience of families across our nation’s communities.
The summit will provide a forum for the anti-hunger community to learn, share, and network. In workshops, panel discussions and lectures from keynote speakers, presenters will discuss collaboration and advocacy techniques, identifying and maximizing resources and implementing best practices in day-to-day anti-hunger work. Panel topics include childhood and senior hunger, healthy food access, and food waste and recovery.
The summit includes opportunities for attendees to propose their own innovative ideas. “The Greenhouse: Seeding Solutions to End Hunger” event encourages local attendees to submit proposals for up to $20,000 of funding to advance an innovative idea to help solve hunger. Selected applicants will present proposals at the conference to a panel of CEOs from across the Tampa Bay area. Additional information on The Greenhouse event, and general information on the summit – including registration – can be found at SummitToEndHunger.com.
