Sodexo Fnd-AllianceThe Alliance to End Hunger is pleased to announce it has received a $30,000 grant from the Sodexo Foundation to support the work of its recently approved youth engagement initiative.  This funding will allow the Alliance to execute on key elements of its long-term youth engagement strategy, including the 2017 goals of creating a comprehensive youth landing page on the Alliance’s website (a “one-stop shop” for young people to connect to opportunities and resources around ending hunger) and the launch of a youth-focused chapter within the Alliance’s Advocacy Playbook.

“Actively engaging youth in anti-hunger advocacy is of vital importance to the Alliance and our collective mission of building the public and political will to end hunger,” says Rebecca Middleton, Executive Director of the Alliance to End Hunger.  “We are so grateful to the Sodexo Foundation for its leadership in supporting our goal to empower the generation that will end hunger.”

Last year the Alliance convened a group of several youth-focused Board members (Share Our Strength, National FFA Organization, Auburn University/Universities Fighting World Hunger, and the Sodexo Foundation) who helped shape the initial strategy and will continue to identify needs and opportunities around anti-hunger youth engagement.  Adding to the critical work of that group, the Alliance selected two passionate, activated youth advisors, Erin Leonard and Louisa Scheiffelin, who respectively have an impressive record in advocating to end hunger.  They will consult with the working group to ensure that its work is both relevant to and easily understood by young people.

The youth chapter in the Alliance to End Hunger Advocacy Playbook will formally launch early next month and the landing page will go live on the Alliance’s website in July of this year.  For more information on this initiative, or to learn how you can get involved, please contact Danielle Haddy.

Our thanks to the Sodexo Foundation for their sponsorship of the Alliance to End Hunger’s youth engagement initiative.
