Building a Future without Food Waste and Hunger
November 22, 2016
Membership in the Alliance to End Hunger means even more than uniting our voices in support of a common goal; it also opens doors to meaningful collaboration among member organizations. We’re excited to announce a new collaboration between Universities Fighting World Hunger and The Campus Kitchens Project that will amplify the hunger-fighting efforts of engaged students and university leaders across the country. In the spring of 2017, these two nonprofit powerhouses in the fight against hunger and food waste are teaming up to host their annual Summits at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. The Campus Kitchens Project and Universities Fighting World Hunger (UFWH) have 25 combined years of experience in mobilizing citizens — especially university students— to build a more sustainable food system.
This year the combined 4th Annual Food Waste & Hunger Summit and the 12th Annual UFWH Summit — together dubbed Summit2 — will be hosted by Walsh University in Canton, Ohio on March 24-25. By co-locating these powerful events, and bringing together a wide range of multi-sector partners and influential speakers, we will empower our attendees to:
* Access broader networks of leaders, innovators and visionaries
* Receive more diverse training and learn about replicable best practices
* Engage in inclusive dialogues about hunger, food waste, sustainability, and social justice
“We are thrilled to partner with Universities Fighting World Hunger on this year’s Summit2,” said Laura Toscano, Director of The Campus Kitchens Project. “We have always seen our Food Waste & Hunger Summit as a way to bring together not just our own student volunteers, but everyone working on these interrelated issues to learn from one another and build the movement. This partnership will allow us to take that collaboration to the next level.”
This spring, On March 24-25, together we will convene more than 300 students and university leaders from across the world for a packed weekend of learning about advocacy, service and leadership to win the fight against food waste and hunger.
Whether as a speaker, attendee, nonprofit partner or event sponsor, we need your involvement and support to continue building this growing movement.
