Healthy Kids, Healthy Schools is a statewide collaboration between Children’s Hunger Alliance, American Dairy Association – Mideast, and Ohio Action for Healthy Kids. Healthy Kids, Healthy Schools improves health among Ohio’s middle school students through increased access to school breakfast, enhancements to the school environment, and nutrition and physical activity education programs. We work closely with middle schools to increase participation in the School Breakfast Program by engaging educational leadership, recognizing model programs, and encouraging school–to-school mentoring. We increase student access to nutrient rich foods and develop healthy school environments through improved school wellness policies and strong community partnerships. Lastly, we promote Fuel Up to Play 60, a research-based interactive youth initiative that encourages a healthy lifestyle through sixty minutes of exercise per day and healthy food choices.
