The primary goal of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Food Security Partnership is to significantly reduce hunger in the 12 counties of Southwestern PA by increasing participation in food assistance programs, supporting community led efforts to improve food security and facilitating collaborations between organizations to better serve our neighbors facing hunger. The strategy behind this work involves engaging partner organizations from a variety of sectors (e.g. nonprofit, for-profit, government, education, and faith-based) to reach out to the people they already serve with food assistance resources and information, encourage their members to support food assistance programs and participate in collaborations between the sectors.

Our work includes:

1. Increasing participation in federally funded hunger relief programs, including SNAP, School Breakfast, Community Eligibility and the Summer Food Service Program.

2. Support community led efforts to improve food security.

3. Develop strategic collaborations between the Food Bank and organizations in the health, housing and employment sectors.
