New Tool to Help Mobilize Youth in the Fight Against Hunger

December 4, 2017

Zero hunger by 2030? Yep, it’s possible. And you(th) can make it happen with this new online resource.

The Alliance to End Hunger, through the generous support of the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation, has launched a new online resource to help young people interested in ending hunger in their community or around the world find easy ways to get involved.

The Youth Opportunity Resource Inventory is easy-to-use and mobile-friendly.

The Youth Opportunity Resource Inventory is a one-stop shop for youth. From volunteer opportunities and service trips, to professional programs and fellowships, the new resource helps match young people with ways to join the effort to end hunger.

“We are really excited about the launch of this resource,” says Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation’s Executive Director Shondra Jenkins. “Increasing opportunities for youth to design and lead innovative solutions to hunger is a key part of our recently-released strategy. We believe today’s youth can be the generation to end hunger, so we’re committed to investing in their ideas and engagement.”

The Youth Opportunity Resource Inventory is the latest step taken through the Alliance’s youth engagement initiative. This initiative is guided by a group of Alliance member organizations on the front lines of getting youth interested in and active around the issue of hunger. Members of the youth engagement working group include Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation, National FFA, Universities Fighting World Hunger, and Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry.  The initiative is also guided by three youth advisors: Louisa Schieffelin, Erin Leonard, and 2018 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Jessica Baeder.

“What we are collaborating on through our youth initiative is really what the Alliance is all about,” stated the Alliance to End Hunger’s Executive Director Rebecca Middleton. “To have organizations that specialize in youth engagement at one table, working together to build the next generation of hunger-fighters – that is an exciting thing to be a part of.”
