This resource discusses the role of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) on the health of young children in child care centers and family child care homes. The resource highlights challenges associated with assessing health impacts of child care feeding programs and then shifts the focus on evidence that child care feeding programs do in fact improve health. Background information on CACFP is provided followed by recommendations for Congress, which include expanding access, reducing barriers, and improving children’s nutrition through CACFP.
