The Alliance to End Hunger is pleased to announce that Eric Mitchell – who has served as Executive Director of the organization since 2020 – has been appointed President by the Board of Directors, effective immediately.
“Over the past few years the Alliance has grown exponentially both in its advocacy capacity and through the strength of its national and global networks,” stated Lisa Davis, Chair of the Alliance to End Hunger’s Board of Directors. “This growth and impact requires an executive role that matches the responsibility and aspirations we have for the Alliance. Eric has been a fantastic leader, and we on the Board believe this is well-deserved.”
Eric Mitchell has led the Alliance to End Hunger since mid-2020 – in the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic and mere months before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Domestic and global food security and nutrition issues have only become increasingly complicated since that time. In response, the Alliance under the direction of Mitchell has built up its advocacy team, and increased both the breadth of its membership and diversity of its broader network. Prior to Mitchell’s role with the Alliance, he served as Director of Government Relations for Adtalem Global Education, as well as six years as the Director of Government Relations at Bread for the World. He began his political career on Capitol Hill serving as Policy Advisor to civil rights icon, U.S. Congressman John Lewis, and Legislative Assistant to U.S. Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
“I am both honored and humbled by the Board’s faith in me for this new role,” stated Mitchell. “Working with our wonderful friends, colleagues, members, and everyone supporting the Alliance genuinely gives me hope for the future, and I look forward to our continued efforts to end hunger everywhere.”
