Impacts of H.R. 1, “The One Big Beautiful Bill Act”

Karen Ehrens, U.S. Policy Manager, Alliance to End Hunger

The passage of H.R. 1, The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, severely impacted our ability to end hunger and malnutrition here in the United States. The law fundamentally changes the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), how it is run, how it is paid for, and what hoops hungry people need to jump through to qualify.

The new law is a lot to digest, which is why we pulled together an easy-to-read breakdown of how the legislation will affect food security in America.

We understand the importance of recognizing the full impact on this bill as we look ahead to FY26 and a possible upcoming “skinny Farm Bill.” Please take a few minutes to read this analysis, and share it far and wide. With a full understanding of the changes, we prepare to build back and fight back.
