Alliance to End Hunger Urges Congress to Pass Critical End-Of-Year Funding Agreement

WASHINGTON (December 16, 2024) The Alliance to End Hunger is deeply concerned by the failure of Congress to come to an agreement on critical end-of-year funding, emergency supplemental funding and extending the Farm Bill. Current funding authority is due to expire on December 20th if legislation is not passed.

Without funding, food and nutrition programs focused on both domestic and global food security are imperiled. Federal nutrition programs and emergency disaster relief for those impacted during the hurricane season are desperately needed as families continue to struggle to put food on the table over the holiday season. Further, famine conditions in Sudan, political turmoil in Syria, and the continuing humanitarian emergency in Gaza are contributing to a persistent global food crisis that demands American leadership.

The Alliance to End Hunger urges Congressional leaders to put differences aside and pass funding packages that ensure the well-being of those in need of food assistance at home and abroad.
