The mission of the Hunger-Free Northwest coalition is to build and cultivate a healthy food infrastructure that will provide food security and equity through creative neighborhood collaborations.
Currently, we are focusing on the senior population of the community. We are working on obtaining funding for 100 seniors to participate in Walmart’s Fresh Food Delivery program. A monthly subscription is $13.00 , a yearly one is $98.00. The coalition is looking to subsidize that cost. In addition to working with a local church to launch a Grocery Ride Share Ministry to provide free weekly rides to Food Lion twice a week. We are also working with current community gardeners in a garden-to-store initiative to begin in the spring of next year.
